Frequently Asked Questions
Beginning therapy can bring questions and uncertainty. Here you can find practical information about how sessions work, what to expect and how to take the first step.
If there is anything else you would like to know, you are welcome to get in touch.

I offer online therapy for individual adults and couples.
People come to me with many different experiences, including trauma, grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties, life changes, emotional overwhelm, menopause, questions around identity and self-worth, and neurodivergent experiences.
You do not need to identify with a particular issue or have a clear explanation of what is wrong before contacting me.
-
Daisydot Healing Therapies is a neurodivergent-affirming practice, but it is not a specialist neurodivergence service.
This means I respect different ways of thinking, communicating, processing and experiencing the world. I will work with you as an individual and make space for your needs without treating neurodivergence as something that needs to be corrected.
-
Yes. I offer a free 15-minute consultation before arranging your first full therapy session.
This gives us an opportunity to make initial contact, talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy and consider whether working together feels right.
-
Please contact me by email or through the website enquiry form.
I do not use an automated booking system. I will respond personally, and we can arrange a suitable time for your free consultation.
-
All sessions take place online using Zoom Workplace.
Online therapy allows you to access support from a private and familiar environment without needing to travel. I am based in Northumberland and work from a dedicated, confidential space.
-
To get the most from your session, it is helpful to have:
A stable internet connection or phone signal
Access to a laptop, tablet or phone
A private space where you cannot be overheard
Freedom from interruptions and distractions where possible
For safety reasons, therapy sessions cannot take place while you are driving or operating machinery.
-
If we lose connection or experience another technical problem, we will try to reconnect or agree on an alternative way to continue the session where possible.
-
Individual and couples sessions last 50 minutes.
Appointments are available during the daytime and evening from Monday to Friday, with additional availability on Sundays.
-
Individual therapy costs £50 for a 50-minute session.
Couples therapy costs £80 for a 50-minute session.
Payment is requested at least two hours before your appointment. Payment details will be shared with you in advance.
-
I understand that life can sometimes be unpredictable and cancellations will be approached with compassion and flexibility.
If you know that you will be unavailable because of a holiday, appointment or another commitment, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice where possible.
Sessions cancelled with reasonable notice may be rearranged, subject to availability. Missed appointments or sessions cancelled with little or no notice may be charged at the full session fee.
Any decision to waive a fee or rearrange a late cancellation will be considered individually and remains at my discretion.
-
Confidentiality is central to the therapeutic relationship. What you share during our sessions will normally remain private.
There are a small number of circumstances where confidentiality may need to be broken. These include situations involving a serious risk of harm, safeguarding concerns relating to a child or vulnerable adult, certain serious crimes, or circumstances where disclosure is required by law.
Where possible, I will aim to discuss any concerns with you before taking further action.
-
As part of my commitment to safe and ethical practice, I attend regular clinical supervision.
Supervision provides a confidential professional space in which I can reflect on my work and ensure I continue to practise responsibly. Your identity and privacy are protected throughout this process.
-
Email can be used for practical matters such as arranging appointments, cancellations and general administration.
Although I aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe, therapeutic support is provided during scheduled sessions rather than by email.
-
Daisydot Healing Therapies is not a crisis or emergency service.
If you need urgent support between sessions, please contact your GP, NHS 111, the emergency services or another appropriate crisis support service. If you are outside the UK, please contact the emergency or crisis service available in your location.
-
There is no fixed number of sessions because everyone’s needs and circumstances are different.
We can review our work together as therapy progresses to ensure it continues to feel helpful and relevant to you. Therapy may be brief or continue over a longer period, depending on what you need.
-
Yes. You are free to bring therapy to an end whenever you feel ready.
If we have worked together for more than eight sessions, I will encourage us to have at least one planned ending session. This gives us time to reflect on your journey, acknowledge what has changed and bring our work together thoughtfully.
-
Before beginning therapy, you will receive a therapeutic agreement explaining how we will work together.
It covers areas such as confidentiality, payments, cancellations, contact between sessions and professional boundaries. You will have an opportunity to read it and ask questions before agreeing to begin.
-
If your question has not been answered here, please feel free to contact me. You do not need to know exactly what to say, just begin with whatever feels comfortable.
